"Inspiration Comes from Regularity"

Okay so, in the midst of sitting by the fire in a faux fur coat feeling slightly miserable. I decided to watch some interviews with Francis Bacon (Great, whats your point I hear you say), well he said something that interested me, something that began a chain of thoughts - "Inspiration comes from regularity". Being a Live it, Eat it, Breath it, fashion obsessive I began thinking how such regularity relates to fashion. From hiding away in my room with a pile of magazines-namely Vogue and ELLE-, to satisfying my shopping addiction by spending possibly too much time in Topshop, even to looking at fabric textures in a Textiles lesson or the colours within a painting in Art prehaps; It's this sense of constant regularity which is awe inspiring, and influences the way I choose to dress.
And so, I felt a little A/W/'12 inspiration post was in order.

Afterall, there is no fashion without inspiration...

-Really enjoyed putting a collage like this together to show you, so might start doing these kind of posts more on the regular? Let me know what you think.

Oh and I'd just like to say a massive thank you to Chelsea for featuring me in her November post for bloggers of the month, and another massive thank you to the new bloggers who have now started following me, means an awful lot!

Faux fur and Tartan

Cardigan with faux fur trim - Used to be my Mum's
Black turtleneck-Used to be my Mum's
Tartan trousers-Topshop
Boots-Topshop
Black faux fur coat-Topshop
Necklace-Used to be my Gran's
Bag-TK Maxx

After what seems like, and possibly has been, post after post of wearing turtlenecks I think it is safe to say (and i'm sure you agree) that I live in these somewhat godly creations.
In the attempt to tackle the winter chill, I turned to the fashion art of layering; pairing my much loved top with a wool cardigan with faux fur trims, underneath my trustworthy black faux fur coat. Whilst everyone else was complaining they were cold, I on the otherhand was not. Fashion-1, 'general public'-0.

For the remainder of the evening I plan to work on my Art History essay, researching and reading up on the likes of Francis Bacon (my favourite artist, ever) and various other expressionist works.
Oh and sorry about the delay of the clothing rail post I talked about previously in another post, It's coming I promise!

To second that 'Oh', I just want to say thank you to everyone who follows/reads/comments on my blog, it really does make my day.

A Classic Colour

What's about to follow is the result of pitch black darkness having just gone 4 and no one willing to take blog photos for me....( I already apologise now for the appalling outfit post)

Power Dressing

Faux Fur Stole- H&M
Tweed blazer - Rokit
Coated trousers- H&M
Black turtle neck- Used to be my mum's
Boots-Topshop
Necklace-Used to be my Gran's
Bag-TK Maxx

A tweed blazer with structured shoulders, a mane of faux fur and a pair of slim fitting trousers. This is what I like to call 'Power dressing'.
To me, the androgynous look is a faultless classic. Its this sense of masculinity vs femininity which speaks out both elegance and authority. It's a look which contradicts, say the philosophy of Dior's New Look and puts out a whole new idea of how women can look sensual without bearing all.

A lot of the time when I write my outfit posts I let my wannabe fashion journalist alter ego run wild, so if you ever find yourself reading something i've wrote and thinking 'what is she on about', just go with it.
Apologies for the bad quality photos, it has been a constant downpour all day and the lighting in my house is shocking. However, on a much more positive photographic related note, last night I ordered myself one of the Nikon compact system cameras....Hurray for no more streams of bad quality ootd photos!
Thankyou to everyone who commented on my previous post with possible features you would like to see, it's opened my mind a lot on a few different things I can start to reguarly include on my blog.
Aswell as attempting to fight my never ending battle of written work and art, I spent my weekend arranging my clothes onto an 'A/W rail'. I thought this would work well for a feature, so expect it up in a couple of days!

Hope you've all had a good weekend

New Boots

 Boots- Topshop

Just thought i'd do a quick post showing you my new loves in the form of these beautiful chunky chelsea boots.
If you read my previous post, then you'll know that my boots broke, so I went and bought myself these beauties. Being well, how can i put it, slightly vertically challenged, I require rather small fitting shoes. I first tried these on in a size 4, and found that they were too big and to my dismay they didn't have size 3 in stock. Being the stubborn person that I am, if the shoe doesn't fit then you make it...(in the form of insoles. I owe my life to these things)
I've worn these once for the whole day and found that they were unbelievably comfy; however since the majority of my shoes have thick soles/platforms, they did feel a little funny to walk in at first.

I've spent my night searching the internet on the role of a fashion/creative director. It's my dream job.

I've also been having thoughts about my blog. For starters, I really want to rename it, but I can't seem to think of a title that would stand out, sigh. Secondly, I really want to start doing different posts other than my usual OOTD's. So, feel free to comment below telling me what you'd like to see on my blog, would be very much appreciated!

Laidback

Cardigan-Vintage shop
Turtle neck-Topshop
Leather skater skirt-Ark
Scarf-Vintage from Bricklane
Creepers- Underground

Quick post.
I don't know, whenever I put on outfits like this, I often find myself feeling like a generic art student- debatably, that I am. Recently i've been blaming the weather and the early darkness for my somewhat 'slubbed' attitude to try dress half decently (Like many, my mood effects what I wear a lot).
I still can't really decide if i like this outfit or not, but i'm trying to post as much as I can...

Tonight i've done nothing other than eat far too much, and am now sat feeling really sick. Sigh, haha.

Faux Fur Stole - H&M
Jumper-Beyond Retro
Turtle neck-Used to be my Mum's
Necklace-Used to be my Gran's
Matte leggings-Miss Selfrdige
Boots-Ebay
Bag- TK Maxx

Looking ever so dozed in these photos, oh the disadvantage of being extremely unphotogenic, sigh.

I wore this outfit yesterday, wearing layers of beautiful pieces to tackle the a/w chill. Since I decided upon doing a haul post yesterday, I thought it would be a good idea to use these photo's for an outfit post for today; since I'm still in the process of tackling a mountatin of work, and the annoying tendancy for it to start getting dark in the middle of the afternoon make it a nightmare to try and take half decent photos (well, half decent if the only camera you're able to use is the one on your phone. Sigh, again.)
This jacket is definitely one of my new favourites, with it's earthy tone and simple paisley print make it a great piece to be able to dress it up in different ways (It's also so soft and warm to wear).

Last night I went to go see the last Twilight film, it was fantastic. Is it sad that I do now feel sad that it's all over ? A box set with my name on is calling I think...

...Okay so, I think I satisfied my shopping/clothes obsession, *laughs*
Every time I go shopping now, I try to always think about all the different pieces I already have, those that I'm going to buy, and how they would work together; that way I don't feel like i'm wasting money on any old thing (however admittedly, sometimes that doesnt always go to plan).
I chose these pieces as I think they are perfect for this season, and can be styled in many different ways to create a range of different looks.

With a box of tissues and paracetamol (yes, one week later and i'm still battling with this horrible cold), I plan on doing some revision, starting my English Language work, and then hopefully later this evening go out to watch Breaking Dawn pt.2- It's been far too long, yes i'm talking to you Taylor and R Patz.

London: Quick post

Coat-Used to be my Gran's
Dungarees- Rokit
Turtle neck-Used to be my mum's
Boots-Ebay
Bag-market in spain

Literally a real quick outfit post, photo taken whilst shopping on Bricklane.
I had the most amazing time in London and bought quite possibly, dare I say it, too many clothes...(on second thoughts, I taken that back, you can never buy too many clothes)
I'm planning on doing my first ever haul post, which will be up within the next couple of days, and I will blog better about my time in London then, as I am feeling really under the weather at the moment, *que sniffles and coughing as I'm writing this*. Booo.

Velvet Paisley Midi Skirt

Velvet paisley midi skirt- Charity store
Jersey/jumper-Charity store
Boots-Ebay
Bag-TK Maxx

I have a habbit of starting posts on a negative, but my poor amount of photo's deserves an exaplanation- Someone in my family *cough* my dad, dropped the camera, so now whenever photo's are taken, horrible black splodges occur all on the screen -it get's worse- they actually appear on the photo's, so i've had to spend time cropping the photo's to try and get a half acceptable range...You can tell the outcome wasn't so great.

ANYWAY, I think this skirt is one of my new favourite pieces.
Paisley, velvet and midi? You couldn't get a piece anymore perfect for this season if you tried; so you can probably guess my level of excitement when I saw it, a true charity shop gem.
I paired it with this high neck jumper and my chunky boots, keeping it fairly simple so as to let all the attention fall on this beauty.

It's my Dad's 50th today, so the evening is going to be spent celebrating (unfortunately for me, not eating cake, sigh), and then London for 4 days tomorrow, woo!

A Day Trip in London

Black turtle neck top- Used to be my mum's, old debenhams i think?
Jacket-Used to be my mum's.
American Apparel disco pants
Boots-Ebay
Bag-TK Maxx

Well to start with, a slightly different outfit post...
On a trip down to London which consisted of going around art galleries and eating possibly too much sushi ?  I decided it would be a good idea to try get a few snaps in of myself for a quick outfit post.

With a 60's vibe and a hint of granny chic I wore this when running about the capital.
Not only do these turtleneck tops keep your neck super warm (Taking the winter chill into consideration I was most greatful of this factor since I not so cleverly decided not to bring the faux fur, stupid I know), but they just add that little retro edge to any outfit. They really are such a versatile piece and perfect for A/W'12. My non-existent wardrobe in the form of my floor will be gifted with a few more colour ways of these beauties in the next few weeks.

After finishing seeing all the galleries, me and my friend had time to have a walk around Covent Garden. Since i'm going back to London again for 4 days next week, I decided it would be a good idea to go to Dr Martens and see if they had my size in the sought after Agyness Deyn  Strap boot..."Sold out and won't be getting anymore stock in" of course. Months of saving, trust my luck.
So excuse the cliche, but now i'm stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place; I need a new pair of winter shoes, and don't know what to get. Do I get a pair of ankle boots or do I go for some of the Dr Marten brogue type shoes?...

Tonight i'm doing nothing but curling up on the sofa and watching saturday night tv.
Oh, and i bought tickets to see one of my favourite bands, so i'm all happy, eeeee.
