Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week: Valentino Spring/Summer 2013

Immediately after watching a video of the Valentino Haute Couture collection for Spring/Summer 2013, I was left in awe. So much so, that I just felt I had to do a post on it (Being the kind blogger that I am, I've even included a video, so for anyone who hasn't had the privilege to watch this truly spectacular paradigm of beauty, romance and tremendous craftmanship, now you can).

Taking inspiration from secret gardens, mazes, ancient mosaics, and the romance evoked from floral paintings, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli captured the meaning of Haute Couture - an elicitation of the beauty and mystery which this profound fashion secrecy beholds. As beautifully poised models stepped out onto the runway, the immediacy of the designers inspirations were absolute. An array of beautiful fabrics and cuts, adorned in parisian latticework, floral embroidery, and lace demonstrated the true craftsmanship which had gone into each work of art.

What are your thoughts on the collection?
(Sorry for the repost, despite describing myself as a 'kind' blogger, the video wasn't even showing up! haha)

Céline Tee & Mom Jeans

Oversized blazer/jacket- Charity shop
Celine tee - ebay
Mom Jeans-Vintage shop
Shoes-Zara
Bag-TK Maxx

This evening I took my younger sister and a couple of her friends out for dinner to Wagamama, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to take some photo's for a quick post- although admittedly, the ice covered pavements didn't look too enticing so I did later change my footwear to my trusty Jeffrey Campbells; not exactly weather suitable either I know, but I felt safer in a chunky platform - maddness.

S/S'13 Trend: White Wash

As our favourite magazines begin to issue trend reports for S/S'13, I thought I would take the opportunity to do a post on one trend which I am particuarly excited for - White.
In all it's pristine entirety, it's a colour which connotes untouched, elegant simplicity.
Being showcased by various designers such as the likes of Chanel, Alexander Wang and Stella McCartney, this time it has been presented to us in array of beautiful fabrics, textures and shapes.

What are your thoughts on this trend?

Deep Purple

Coat- Topshop
Cardigan-Used to be my Mum's
Turtleneck top- Topshop
Skirt-Topshop
Necklace-Stradivarius
Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell
Clutch-Primark

Deep Purple, obviously by that I'm not referring to the late 1960's rock band, but this beautiful, beautiful wine colour. I paired this autumnal hue with my Topshop black and gold brocade skirt, accessorised  with my black and gold necklace and belt.
There's something so chic about wearing a jacket over your shoulders.

Leather & Tartan

Faux Leather Gilet- H&M
Tartan Blazer- Charity Shop
Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell
Clutch-Primark

Before you start jumping to conclusions I am actually wearing a pair of shorts underneath this oversized blazer and wasn't about to 'bare all' the moment the wind changed, *laughs*.
This is just an outfit I quickly put together. Tartan is a trend which I really love, however admittedly I haven't really embraced it much this season.
I paired this beautiful blazer-which I got from the charity shop priced at £3(i know)- with my faux leather gilet from H&M to create a somewhat offbeat look to the structured blazer. There's something special about tartan and leather.

Hope you all have a great weekend

Mom Jeans

Velvet Kimono- Topshop
Silver thread top - Used to be my Mum's
Jeans- Vintage shop
Shoes- Topshop
Necklace-Used to be my Gran's

A style of jean full of 90's nostalgia, or perhaps more to the point, a style typically found worn during the morning school run- albeit with a pair of unflattering shoes - this high-waisted, loosely fitting deemed 'Mom Jean' is set to be the leg-wear which shapes S/S'13, and I can't wait.

Monochrome Madness

Striped peplum zip up jacket- Primark
Black skinny Jeans- Topshop
Shoes-Zara
Necklace- Used to be my Gran's
Bag- TK Maxx

'It's Black and White'- a phrase which is categorical, it speaks of no confusion. Perhaps it is fair to say that it these two classic colours which are the basic fundamental necessities to the fashion industry. And so, in combination together it is this monochromatic palette which has graced A/W'12, and what is about to be embraced in S/S'13.
Admittedly, tending to wear more black rather than white-except for the trusty white blouse of course- they're not really colours which I usually wear together alone without the addition of  coloured knitwear. So when I saw this little jacket in Primark, I felt it was time to try out this classic trend and made the purchase (before you start thinking that was a poor effort of trying to save money, it was just before I made that difficult decision haha).
I really do love this jacket, and definitely see it as one of those odd pieces which you find in Primark and quite rightfully say to yourself that 'it doesn't look like it's from primark' haha. Cheap treasures.
Although saying this, it doesn't quite have the fit which would be found on a piece from a more higher end high street store, as it is quite shapeless around the waist, but £10 I shouldn't really complain!

Last Haul For a While....I Hope

Black high waisted skinny jeans- Topshop
Black semi-sheer chiffon type cami top?-Topshop
Lipstick in shade 'Nevada' -Topshop
Necklaces-River Island
Clutch - Primark (I know, i couldn't believe it either)

'Okay I'm going to start saving now' - A phrase I use once too often and never actually commit to, but this time I'm going to. I have to, my birthday trip to London is calling, but first I just thought I'd show you my mini haul from the other day....haha, sigh.

In the attempt to ease the strong feeling of guilt having just spent nearly my weeks pay, I've justified these purchases as 'essential basics' (yes?). Not actually owning a pair of proper black skinny jeans-coated don't count-, and them being an item which is pretty much an ultimate wardrobe staple, I decided I really did need a pair. However if like me you're somewhat 'vertically challenged' shall we say, then often jean shopping, or trousers in general for that matter, can be an absolute nightmare.
Before, i'd been wanting a pair of Acne Jeans for a while, but after looking on the site and those of other various stockists and continuously seeing that the shortest leg available is the apparantly deemed 'regular' 32, (anyone who owns a pair is this true? if not then help a blogger out!) I was left disheartened and gave up on that idea. Then a friend who works in Topshop suggested I try the Topshop petite range, and voila! A pair of perfect high waisted black skinny jeans in leg 28.

Vintage shorts and Tartan Scarf

Coat-Topshop
Jumper-Ark
Vintage Levis- Urban Outfitters
Scarf-from a Vintage market in a basement on Brick Lane?
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell Litas
Bag-TK Maxx
Necklace-Used to be my Gran's

Sorry if this outfit seems a bit 'samey' to another recent blog post, I'm trying to showcase my style/post as much as possible and often if I like a look (mainly this coat) I'll wear it until I get sick of it, if that makes much sense.
As my sister had been persistently nagging me to go to town with her to get some new boots, this is just something I quickly put together for a little trip to town  (well I say little, unfortunately today was pay day and then the rest is history...). I think it's really quite a simple, relaxed outfit, often what is needed in order to survive the rush of people still visiting the on going sales.

The other day I booked the hotel for my birthday trip down to London with my friends. Having never actually been on a night out down there, does anyone know of any amazing places to go, clubs ect. ? ( I have feeling those nights are going to be some of the most expensive nights of my life)

So I thought I'd do a real quick outfit post before I go out to the cinema to finally watch The Hobbit, being a self confessed Lord of The Rings nerd, this is something which I consider extremely exciting (incase you're sat wondering whether there was a hint of sarcasam throughout any of that, then no there wasnt, I'm being completely serious here)

A New Year and The Beginning of New Things

Coat-Topshop
Printed blouse- Blue Rinse
Black coated trousers- H&M
Chunky Heart Chain necklace- Topshop (sale)
Shoes - Topshop

So it's the end of one year and the start of another, time really does go so fast.
This year is going to be an important one for me.  It's the year of my final A-level exams, the year I find out whether I get into Art College to do my foundation course, and ultimately it's the year I get my final results back which arguably, or so to speak, is going to shape my future.
Oh and apologies for the somewhat cliched title, I'm suddenly starting to regret putting it as now all that is springing to mind is an array of 12 year old girls facebook status' and tweets with 'New year, new me'... No but, on a more serious note, I do want to make some changes. For example: I want to use this start as a transistion for my blog. After looking at the quality of these photo's in comparison to my shoddy phone ones, I have been repeatedly vowing to myself to never (or try not to) use my phone for outfit posts. On another blog related note, I also want to dress better and do better outfit posts; recently i've been really hating the way I dress, sigh. Oh, and hopefully gain a lot more followers by this time next year.
And finally, admittedly i've never been one whose actually able to stick to a diet for more than a week (avid foodie), so another change I want to make - as overused as it is- but I do want to start exercising reguarly and eating healthy in the attempt to lose abit of weight!

Happy New Year everyone!
