A Level textiles product: Inspired by the theme of water

Okay so once again I haven't been great at blogging, and my last post suggested that there was going to be another post to follow - 'Day 1: London' ....which, there is, i've just been really busy with deadlines looming. Sorry!

Anyway, recently I have just finished designing/manufacturing my textiles product. Drawing up my own brief, the product took the form of coordinated seperates ( jacket+ shorts), with the influential theme of water. Greatly inspired by the philosophies of the label, Alexander McQueen was my designer of choice- the product was designed/manufactured with the intention of it being part of a S/S'13 range.
I wanted to explore the theme in quite a profound way, using furrowed and sublimation printed panels to demonstrate texture and colour, whilst I created the honeycomb circle skirt inspired by the molecular structure of water. I dyed the wool crepe fabric myself using the method of Shibori.

If anyone follows me on twitter you'll know about my sheer burst of excited shock? To see that after designing and dveloping my product, the Alexander McQueen S/S'13 collection was released where I found that Sarah Burton had also used honeycomb structures heavily throughout the collection (WOW) haha.

Anyway, the reason why i'm doing this post is that I would really love some feedback on my product, so please tell me what you think!

So yeah, it would be really greatly appreciated if you could comment on what you think/like/dislike ect, thank you!

London: Day 1

Jacquard cardigan-Zara
Printed Blouse- Blue Rinse
Faux leather midi skirt- Zara
Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell
Bag- Zara

My mind is on a blank so i'm not going to confuse (and bore) you with a paragraph that makes no sense- instead i'll keep it short and sweet...
So it was my birthday last week and me and 2 of my closest friends went down to London for the weekend. Annoyingly I forgot to take my camera, so I decided to take a few quick snaps of my outfit via my phone so that I could blog to you all!

Hope you've all had a great Easter.

Better Late Than Never

White Shirt-Charity shop
Sleevless printed blouse- Charity shop
Faux fur and suede gilet- M&S
Midi Skirt- Zara
Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell
Bag-Used to be my Mum's

I hope you haven't all forgotten about me...

So normally i'm apologising for not blogging in over 5, 7 days max, but this absense took it to a whole new level and now i'm left feeling completely out of touch-I've got one serious heck of blog catching up to do-not that i'm complaining of course.
I'm in my final year of sixth form, and for anyone whose already been there, done that and got the t-shirt (?) - particuarly those who like me take coursework heavy subjects- you'll know that your social life becomes non existent and finding the time to do things you actually enjoy becomes somewhat difficult - that's my reason for my lengthy absense. I'm going to try and blog as reguarly as possible though!
I've been away from here for so long quite a few things have happened - I got into Leeds College of Art for my foundation year for one, so that was all happiness, smiles and a massive sigh of relief.

So yeah, stay tuned!

Quick Fix

Coat- Topshop
Jumper- Burberry
Leather trousers- H&M
Boots-Topshop
Bag-Religion

Waking up this morning to see a blanket of thick fog and mist, followed by a quick check of the weather on my phone (yes I do have an app) to confirm that the rest of the day's weather was going to be equally as shit, was the final decider in that I couldn't be bothered taking the time to stare at my clothes rails thinking which printed blouse would go with which skirt or pair of trousers, or jumper or cardigan or jacket or faux fu... And so with that state of mind, I threw on this oversized Burberry jumper, a pair of leather trousers and my favourite go to Topshop coat.

Mixing It Up

Short Jacquard Cardigan: Zara
Turtleneck cropped top- Urban Outfitters
Snakeskin printed skirt- Primark

Okay so admittedly this outfit isnt techincally what I wore today-I was infact wearing my leather skater- however I felt this outfit may be pushing the strictly 'business' dress code a little too much, and my repeated benign comeback of 'it depends what business you're in miss' (I tend to get called up a lot on my outfits) is probably starting to wear thin. BUT this is what I would've worn if i got the chance, haha.

I felt the animal print skirt worked so well with my Jaquard Zara Cardigan; what with it's somewhat native/cultural aesthetic in combination with the snakesin creates almost a tribal mood.

Printed Blouse

Faux Fur Coat - Topshop
Printed Blouse- Rokit
Leather trousers- H&M
Boots-Topshop
Fringed Bag-Religion
Necklaces-River Island

I'm trying to post as reguarly as possible (the success of that however is debatable) so if posts appear brief and slightly rushed, then I apologise.

Today I did the unexpected....I wore my hair down. What d'u want Emily, a medal?.
For those of you that follow/read my blog (repeated thank you's), I think it's probably fair to say that when it comes to hair styles I don't branch out any further than a bun on top of my head, maybe the occassional ponytail if i'm feeling adventurous. This is due half to the fact that I am extremely lazy -my natural hair is really curly so wearing it down requires planning the night before (yes it's that serious) - and secondly because I really don't think I suit my hair or hair in general for that matter,(that's not a moment of maddness, I do genuinely think that) and if i could do an Amber Rose then I quite happily would. But to conclude this pointless, somewhat confusing ramble, what i'm trying to say is that I'm going to try and pay a bit more attention to my hair, starting with a good ol' change of colour.

Corduroy & Velvet

Blouse with floral applique detailing- Used to be my Mum's
PeterPan Collar Blouse- Topshop
Corduroy Skirt- Monki
Oversized jacket- Charity shop
Faux fur stole- H&M
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell
Bag- Miu Miu
Cross Necklaces- River Island

So I probably should of sorted out the gold choker necklace before taking these photos, the lop-sided look isn't doing me any favours haha.

Being a terrible blogger lately you'd think that the only positive outcome would be that it would give me a lot to blog about when I do actually find the time, wrong. Sat with a frazzled brain and trying ever so hard not to ramble on illiterately about nothing is the only thing which is happening right now.
